Dance Rehearsal Attire
A Note on Rehearsal Dance Attire from our Artistic Director
The purpose of rehearsal attire is not just to look uniform, but to help your child thrive in class:
- Posture & Alignment: Proper clothing allows instructors to see body placement clearly, so we can give corrections that keep dancers safe and help them improve technique
- Focus & Professionalism: A consistent, simple dress code minimizes distraction and creates a sense of discipline, helping dancers feel confident and part of a team
- Comfort & Movement: Dance clothing is designed to move with the body, unlike streetwear or school clothes, which can restrict movement
We suggest:
- Girls wear dance leotards, bodysuits, tights, dance skirts, fitted tank/short sleeve tops, jazz pants, sport leggings, or spandex shorts
- Boys wear solid, dark, well- fitted t-shirts with joggers or sport leggings. No jeans, cords, cargos, or baggy tees
- Everyone wears proper dance shoes (Red pleated toe ballet slipper, ballet slippers, character shoes, Paris teaching shoes, or oxfords depending on class); outdoor shoes not permitted.
- All long hair must be tied back securely (ponytail, bun or braids). Very short hair may be left down
- No jewelry or gum
- Outdoor clothing or regular school clothing is not appropriate dance rehearsal attire. For your convenience, we have a merchandise store where students may purchase this clothing - but it can be purchased from anywhere
Thank you for supporting us in creating a positive, professional, and focused environment for all dancers. We look forward to an inspiring year of growth, learning, and joy in dance!
We have an “Outgrown it" bin of gently used footwear to help with the replacement of shoes when the children outgrow them.
If you are interested in checking the bin or donating previously worn dance shoes, please let the instructors know.
Warmly,
Trish
