What to Wear to Class

In order to prepare students for competitions, St. Basil's requests that students are in comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely. Our windows might be open to maximize fresh air ventilation, so please send your dancer in an extra layer, dance wrap or hoodie, to allow them to properly warm up and stay warm during class.

Girls

Clothing Dance leotards, tights or bodysuit welcome. Alternatively, jazz pants or leggings. It is difficult to correct alignment in baggy clothing

Footwear Red pleated toe ballet slippers (required for performances) Black or Beige Oxfords can be worn for practices

Hair tied back (i.e. ponytails or braids) off the face

No jewelry or gum

Boys

Clothing sweatpants/shorts. A normal fitting t-shirt, not baggy - difficult to correct alignment

No jeans or cords or cargos

Footwear Black dance slippers or black oxfords

Hair must be off the face

No jewelry or gum

We have an “I’ve out grown it" bin of gently used footwear to help with the replacement of shoes when the children outgrow them. If you are interested in checking the bin or donating previously worn dance shoes, please let the instructors know.
